If you're reading this and you work in a restaurant, first of all, thank you. We know it's hard work. Though our total time working in restaurants is less than 4 years,* it was long enough to give us a glimpse of how much goes into making a restaurant survive, let alone thrive.
Thanks for tolerating this goofy hobby of ours. As we've said, we're just amateurs working from a list. We write in the third person because - well, we're not sure. It kind of makes us sound aloof, but we thought it was easier than he said/she said.
We're not getting paid for this, so we only go to each place once. This makes for a narrow experience. We try to talk about the good stuff and leave the hatin' to the pros. That said, we do tend to like local places better than chains, and authenticity trumps artifice most of the time.
Thanks for asking before you use words or images from our site. We've licensed our stuff under a Creative Commons Attribution NonCommercial ShareAlike 2.0 license. This means others are welcome to use our content, as long as they cite Eating in Madison A to Z as the source, for non-commercial purposes only (which does rule out, well, restaurants).
The good news is if you want to use something we wrote, ask and we'll probably say yes. If you want to link to this website from yours, go ahead. Just - please - don't copy whole posts and paste them onto your own site. We promise we're not going anywhere.
Finally, thanks for making Madison an awesome place to live and eat. We're truly fortunate to be here, where there are enough restaurants to keep a couple of geeks like us busy for years.
*Nichole has waited tables at a family restaurant and cashiered at a sub shop. JM once slung burgers at a BK.
