Four Lakes Cafe

Four Lakes CafeIn a word: We had Jell-O today.

The specs: #00879
600 Highland Ave., 53792
Official web site

JM ate the meatloaf with mac & cheese and mashed potatoes.
Nichole ate the chicken soup, fruited jello and decaf.
The bill was $11, or $5.50/person, plus tip.
JM and Nichole both gave Four Lakes Cafe a B (see our grading rubric).

Four Lakes Cafe is the cafeteria inside UW Hospital. It has pretty good soup and gelatin with fruit. The ice in the machine is semi-crushed, and there's lots of seating with soft, dim places to catch a nap. We're just guessing but it looked like there was an incentive system at work - the more healthful your food choices, the lower your bill. A single fancy dessert cost almost the same as a hot, balanced meal.

JM's macaroni and cheese was bit on the gummy side and the potatoes, though standard, were not as good as those on most buffet-style cafeteria-type eateries. The diversity of offerings at Four Lakes must be a small comfort to those visiting, but on the whole everything was mostly not as good as we'd had at either Hy-Vee or at home.  Maybe...
