JM and Nichole each ate a cheeseburger, some potato chips, and some fries, and 2 sodas.
The bill was $14, or $7/person, plus tip.
JM and Nichole gave Doubleday's a C (see our grading rubric).
Before this trip, we knew Doubleday's for the annual Deerfield Public Library Trivia Contest. (It's great; you should go.) Turns out there's a small grill down a flight of stairs from the event hall, past the arcade games. This weeknight, we were intruding on after-work crowd, but the swivel factor was low. The one bartender was friendly and curious, and we learned about other community-spirited events at Doubleday's, like the massive craft fair, and a good-sounding fish fry.
We got burgers - cheeseburgers, on small, soft and squishy buttered/toasted buns, sort of not great meat, but good bacon. The fries were OK, but had we wanted something fancier, there was a wide selection of bar favorites (poppers, mac & cheese bites, etc.) Doubleday's is in the middle of nowhere meaning we'd likely only be back for another crack at the trivia crown.
