Canstruction Madison 2012
The second annual Canstruction Madison is almost here! Thursday, May 3, from 5-8pm at the KEVA Sports Center, 8312 Forsythia St., come see the structures and enjoy music, kids' activities, and free Chocolate Shoppe ice cream. Awards will be presented at 7pm with celebrity judge Al Toon and emcee Amy Carlson of NBC15. Suggested admission is a can of food.
Dozens of teams have designed larger-than-life food structures, gathered pallets and pallets of food, and contributed the elbow grease to create this fantastic event. All "construction" materials will stock the Middleton Outreach Ministry Food Pantry.
After Canstruction 2011, over 20 tons of food were given to area families in need. We interviewed MOM for our Blog Action Day 2011 post and learned a lot about the great things they do for the Middleton and west Madison community. Hunger knows no city limits - if you CAN't be at Canstruction, please CANsider an online donation.
UPDATE: Canstruction 2012 is in the books and it was a lot of fun. Indeed, we might even give it a thumbs up:
The big winners from 2012 are listed below:
Together we raised over 28 tons of food, which is equal to 4,700 bags of groceries. In other words, good times and good things. Thanks, MOM, for another great Canstruction!
