JM and Nichole each ate a cheddar cheeseburger with fries. JM had a lemonade.
The bill was $11, or $5.50/person, plus tip.
JM and Nichole gave Antlers Tavern an A- (see our grading rubric).
They had Pearl Street beer. Nothing here has ever been advertised in the back of the Onion. The burgers were 9s out of 10 on Accidental Hedonist's burger rubric:
- Bun: toasted, buttered roll. Sturdy outside, perfectly crunchy toasted inside.
- Meat: Probably 1/3 lb. patty of hand-packed (or if not, at least crinkle-edged), juicy, medium-rare, good-tasting beef. Which is to say, it will be a while before we can bear to eat another restaurant burger because we know we'll be disappointed.
- Bun/meat ratio: perfect.
- Cheese: 2 slices of Cheddar, not quite melted, but very flavorful.
- Misc.: Condiment caddy included ketchup, French's yellow, BBQ, prepared horseradish (!), salt and pepper. Generous portion of fries from obviously fresh grease. Again, 9 out of 10.
There's really nothing else on the menu but burgers and sides. What more can we say? It's a dive without a gimmick.
