Latest Beans 'n Cream Coffee House news and reviews

Coffee and chocolate chip sconeWe messed up again. Tried to go to a coffeehouse on the weekend and eat lunch. We settled for bakery and beverages.

The sad part was that the bakery selection at Beans 'n Cream was really quite limited, even at noon, with just a couple kinds of scones, muffins and cookies. What we sampled was pretty standard.  The scones were a little dry and muffins a little crumbly, but nothing else set them apart either positive or negative.

The Beans 'n Cream Blend of house coffee is a standout, however. It's both bright and robust, and is only one of the three or four brewed varieties on offer at any given time.

Muffin, scone, coffee, soda

As an aside, Nichole will always be grateful to Beans 'n Cream for opening a Madison branch in the American Family office park. She can vouch for the lunch fare at that location as decent - good soups, the ubiquitous wrap sandwich (if you like that sort of thing) and day-old bakery not much worse than the new stuff. She's never tried the espresso drinks, so can't speak to their quality.

So, Beans 'n Cream Coffee House remains largely uncharted territory.

The black and white cookies at Beans 'n' Cream (the AmFam location anyway) are pillowy and wonderful.

I'm with Kyle on the BW cookie - plus, it's as close to authentic as I've had in a long time (and MUCH better than the supposedly authentic ones at Gotham).

BnC is a little pricey for lunch, but when you take into consideration the (lack of) other options in the AMFam area, it's a nice change of pace.

The AmFam location of Beans 'n' Cream is no longer. Given the state of their official website--dead--I'd venture to guess the Sun Prairie shop is gone, too.

Correction! The website has either changed or was wrong to begin with.

Hope lives on for the Sun Prairie location!
