JM ate the peanut butter croissant and a hot cocoa.
Nichole ate the pear ginger scone and a tall mocha.
The bill was $8, or $4/person.
JM and Nichole both gave Ground Zero an A- (see our grading rubric).
Ground Zero gets the best kind of recommendation: when we walked in, we ran into someone we knew, who vouched for the place as her favorite for weekend paper-reading and coffee. They've got a nice, relaxed atmosphere, free wifi, and fast, friendly staff.
JM's peanut butter croissant was very good, toasted just right. He also liked the whipped cream and cocoa (and he's not usually into "grit water"). He thought the menu was a little limited, but overall liked the place.
Nichole found the ginger pear scone to be neither very ginger-y nor pear-ed, but it was still OK. Ground Zero's just such a nice place to spend a morning.
As I've had the chance to hit Ground Zero more often, I've felt more and more enamored by their decor. They've gone all-in with the 1950's "Industry! Science and technology!" filmstrip vibe, but without seeming kitschy.
And they've got a really great pumpkin chocolate chip muffin.
