Latest Door Creek Golf Course Restaurant news and reviews
The first time we drove way the heck out to Cottage Grove on a wild golf course chase, only to find Door Creek closed - we'd even called ahead - we were pissed. We swore we'd stay that way if the vaunted cheese curds let us down. They didn't.
In the last Annual Manual, Kathy wrote of her search for the perfect deep fried cheese curd. We agree with her that Door Creek serves up the lightest, most perfect curds we've ever had. They literally squeaked as only very fresh curds do, and our Wisconsin tastebuds were right at home.
The rest of the meal was not shabby, either, but we filled up on cheese and a good part of JM's meal went uneaten.
If you go, definitely get the curds - and call ahead.
This is the lone pin in the veritable culinary wasteland that is my new neighborhood, so I ask: are these curds better than those at The Old Fashioned? And I don't want to hear that you haven't had them yet, so lie to me if you haven't.
