We get letters

Stephanie writes from New York City:

A friend of mine told me that he had the best tuna sandwich of his life last weekend, while in Madison for the game. Apparently, this sandwich shop seasoned his sandwich with something out of a black container marked with an "X". Would you have any idea what restaurant this might have been?

We're stumped. Anyone else?

I'm pretty positive it was Monty's Blue Plate. I know they have a post-tuna-sammich sauce made with boiled-down soy sauce, anchovy paste, and pureed onions in a container that has an "X" in tape on it. The container is a standard foodservice lexan six-pan, and it would definately appear black.

And it's goooood.
