Update: Damon's is closed.
In a word: Next time someone proposes Applebee's, come here instead.
The specs: #0118

JM ate the butterflied shrimp with corn on the cob and a lemonade.
Nichole ate the 1/2 rack of ribs (good lord!) with baked potato and a salad.
The bill was about $27, or $13.50/person, plus tip.
JM and Nichole both gave Damon's a B+ (see our grading rubric).
Latest Damon's news and reviews
Other than the piped-in music that didn't match our tastes, our experience at Damon's was a pleasant surprise.
The salad was the best Nichole's had at a chain, ever...really. It included real ripe tomatoes and other good veggies, and a real vinaigrette. The ribs featured a perfect ratio of meat, tangy sauce, and charred fat. Mmmm.
JM considered the shrimp v.v. good (butterflied to perfection with just enough butter to not overpower the delicate shrimp flavor), but the corn just OK. He was still a little peckish at the end of his meal, which is not always a bad thing. We both found the hot garlic rolls in the bread basket to be yummy.
Given that Damon's literally has a wall constructed from big screen TVs, we found it refreshing that the A/V budget did not cut into the food budget.
Finally, the service was very attentive - so much so that we suspect our identity as food bloggers may have been busted. Not only was our server very solicitous, but not one but 2 more supervisor-types came to visit. Ah, the price of "fame."
To my dearest food critic,
Thank you for the great review. I am pleased that you enjoyed your experience at our Damon's location. I am writing you to say that I just found your review;therefore, we could not have known you were here. To hear you say that my staff did a very good job in ensuring your experience was memorable, puts a huge smile on my face. We hope to see you again soon.
Sincerely,
Melanie Wilson
