Latest Casa de Lara news and reviews

Things to like about Casa de Lara:

  1. There's a pitcher of water on each table.
  2. The lemonade is excellent.
  3. The dishes aren't smothered in cheese. (Don't get us wrong, cheese is awesome. But sometimes the Dairy State is whey too liberal with the curd.)
  4. The salsa and chips are superb: the salsa has smoky, complex flavors and the chips are excellently seasoned, and they come with crunchy, vinegar-marinated carrot planks - very refreshing.
  5. Excellent and attentive service.
  6. The "Print Shop for the Apple ][+" era signs posted everywhere that say, "We don't do separate checks." (Remember folding and peeling away all those strips of paper edges with sprocket holes? Aaah...)
  7. The mole verde was hella good.

Things we can't rave about include the less-than-compelling burrito dish, which was nevertheless filling and reasonably priced. JM described the music as "nutty," with a couple songs that were obviously novelty tunes (if only we spoke more Spanish).  The bathrooms are a little remote, too. Obviously, the pros outweigh the cons at this laid-back locale.

And now you know the rest of the story.

Apparently, the CDL on State and the CDL on Fish Hatch had no business affiliation. That's what the Internet tells me, anyway.

The Fitchburg location is now Casa del Sol.

Good sleuthing! That makes me feel less bad about having to hit Casa del Sol on future make-ups.

Kept on digging, and I know for sure that ownership changed a little at Fitchburg CDL (now CDS), but I can't say for certain that there wasn't at one time shared ownership.

Regardless, there are enough occurrences of differing experiences at Fitchburg and State locations, that I don't think you'll feel like you're repeating if you went to the State location originally.
