Latest Bennett's Meadowood news and reviews
JM ate the bacon cheeseburger and fries with a lemonade.
Nichole ordered the hamburger and fries with a Coke (and got a cheeseburger).
The bill was $14, or $7/person, plus tip.
JM and Nichole both gave Bennett's Meadowood a C (see our grading rubric).
The food was average. We had dinner, not the infamous breakfasts advertised in the back of the Onion. What can we say? It's a dive with a gimmick.
Speaking of Bennett's and infamous breakfasts: Are you guys doing smut & eggs as part of this tour? Tell me you're doing smut & eggs.

No, dude, we went to Bennett's and this is it for the tour. Funny, you're not the first to wish we had done Smut & Eggs.
If there's any gem of wisdom we can impart from our scouting mission, it's that Bennett's is just plain dirty (think Ptomaine Tony's), and seemingly without a shred of irony and nary a hipster in sight (if that's their audience, which the ads in the Onion would suggest). Or maybe Smut & Eggs IS just about smut.

Wait. I thought the Bennett's with smut & eggs was on S. Park St, not out on Verona Rd. Are you trying to cop out with a "it's-a-chain-like-TGI Fridays" line?
As to why you've been asked multiple times: You're keeping a diary of Madison dining, and Smut & Eggs is right beneath Odessa Piper in that firmament.

Both Bennett's have Smut and Eggs. The Verona Rd. location is the only one on Isthmus' list, which is what we're working from - and we don't have to buy everything that we're sold.

We love your ads. We would love to try out your restaurant but, sorry, we know longer dine in Madison since the smoking ban took effect. Our business goes to thosenearby little villages thathave free choice.

Meh. Make the choice to quit smoking. You know it's killing you, and may very well do the same to those around you.
Your food will taste better if you do, and then you'll realize there are other reasons why you can do better than Bennett's.

And if you're so upset about the smoking ban hurting Madison businesses, why are you vowing to not help them? That's what the smokers have done - by being so helpless to their addictions, they've hurt the businesses they formerly loved. Losers

I'm a follow Central High School Grad. I live in Verona. And have been proud to eat ata both of your establishments.
Heard, that Kristi from the Bob andTom Radio Show is coming for Smut and Eggs on 2/25! What a treat. I would love to bring down some of my spice rub! for food. Which is locally produced. It's great on grill meats and other foods. The hunters just love it...especially on their vension.
Love to you to try it. And would love Kristi to bring a supply back for Bob and Tom and their staff.
Let me know your thoughts.

You have got to be kidding me?! This is so typically Madison. Since when did people or companies not have the right to choose how they do business? Do you enjoy Wine or Beer with your meals? Unlike Tobacco they alter your state of mind and after consumption you can still safely get home without arrangements if you smoke.
Stop pretending that you are better than everyone else in the world because you don't smoke. Smoking has a VERY long human heritage and is a good way to bring people together.
Maybe if people like you were not so intolerant towards us we wouldn't be so intolerant to you.

That's the stupidest pro-smoking rationale I've ever heard- congrats, Nicholas, you're now the most ig'nint smoker I've encountered. And that's saying a lot!

...and kill them. MUAH HA HA.

As one of my favorite songs says: "It's not the nicotine that kills, it's the smoke. Cancers, it's the smoke. Heart disease, it's the smoke. Respiratory disease, it the smoke."

Stupiest pro-smoking argument ever? I dare anyone to find me a single study that says smoking WILL kill you a) peer reviewed AND b) keeps in mind that correlation is not causation.
"That's the stupidest pro-smoking rationale I've ever heard- congrats, Nicholas, you're now the most ig'nint smoker I've encountered. And that's saying a lot!"
You are the most ignorant non-smoker I have ever encountered, and that classifies you with 12 years olds. That is saying a lot.

Have you seen those pictures comparing the lungs of a smoker to those of a non-smoker? It's like taking two pieces of brisket, smoking one of them and leaving the other raw, and then looking at the two. Nicholas, your ignorance amazes me. Smoking cigarettes and lung cancer are pretty much directly related, and if not cancer, emphysema, bronchitis, and all sorts of other health risks. if you're that set on smoking and your "human heritage" argument though, I guess I can't stop you from getting cancer.

hey, we're really sorry you're still addicted to nicotine and hope that you get help for it soon. The world's moving on, bud, here's hoping it doesn't leave you behind.

What the hell is wrong with you people? Can you really not resist the compulsion to snipe at each other and hurl insults about such a trivial disagreement? Even in the comments of a food blog? Seek therapy.

I think it stands nicely as a tribute to the Madison legacy of Eugene Bennett. Divisive bullshit.
But I also think that commenting should be closed on this review.
