JM ate 3 pollo tacos.
Nichole ate a burrito de lengua.
The bill was $10.50, or $5.25.
JM gave La Zacatecana an A; Nichole gave La Zacatecana an A- (see our grading rubric).
The folks at La Zacatecana are welcoming and friendly. We ordered at the deli counter and sat down to watch some Univision, and before we knew it our tacos and burrito had arrived.
The tacos were overloaded with lots of cheese, tomatoes, well-marinated chicken, and really fresh limes - good thing they used two tortillas each. Each bite was a test of skill as the balance needed to both consume and retain the tacos were carefully constucted. We did need to add some of the outstanding salsa (green or red) for some pep.
The burrito de lengua was packed with cheese, meat, lettuce, tomato and avocado. The tortilla was nicely crisped and the lengua was tender and not too greasy. But again, the salsa had to be called in to add interest.
We liked La Zacatecana for its neighborhood feel. Heck, we even saw some Sconnies playing Euchre at another table. We would definitely come back (although not for the Euchre).

D'oh. That place was right up from where I used to live, and here I thought it was only a Mexican (mini) grocery store. I've gone right past there on my way to Rosati's countless times.
