"L" is for Love it or leave it

The Ls were a very "one or the other" experience. Fourteen of the 30 restaurants got at least an A minus average from us, but at the same time 10 restaurants got less than a B average. This means that only 6, The Laurel Tavern, Le Chardonnay, La Concha, Laz Bistro & Bar, Lucky's Bar & Grille and La Mestiza were truly middle of the road. We added not one, not two, but three double A's (L'Etoile, Lakeview Bakery & Deli and Laredo's), that we're sure will now close within two or three months. Probably to become Subways, MyMenus or some East Coast chain (a la Five Guys and Cosi) deigning to make inroads into the midwest.

We were of course glad to share meals with some new friends on our adventures. We look forward to more and more of that as we take on letter M with 44 restaurants that we hope to complete by next winter. But first, 12 more make-ups, including the much-buzzed Alchemy Cafe, Bradbury's and more.

We also passed our fourth blogiversary in the Ls. Holy cow, that's a lot of meals and words.

Hey, at least you don't have to go to every Milio's. That, and the Michael's duplications, cuts the Ms down to 44 instead of 64.
